                                        MALAI CHICKEN CURRY



Malai curry is a Bengali recipe and is very popular throughout Bengal. Today I am preparing Malai Chicken Curry for all the foodies.It is a creamy gravy curry and  very delicious too..Similar way we can also prepare this recipe with prawns,mutton, beef, paneer etc.Out of these Malai prawns is the famous dish all over India. Malai Kofta is a very tasty dish made with minced veg or non veg.

                                             INGREDIENTS


  • Chicken small pieces          -   500 gms
  • Onions                                  -   2+1 sliced
  • Ginger paste                        -    1 tbsp
  • Garlic paste                         -    1 tbsp
  • Curry leaves                        -    3-4 sprigs
  • Cinnamon                           -    3 piece
  • Cloves                                  -    6
  • Turmeric powder              -    1/2 tsp
  • Coriander powder             -   3 tsp
  • Red chilly powder             -   1.3 tsp
  • Pepper powder                  -   1/2 tsp
  • Jeera powder /cumin      -   1/4 tsp
  • Garam masala powder    -   1 tsp
  • Tomato puree                   -    1/2 cup
  • Thick curd                         -   1/2 cup
  • Fresh cream                      -   5 tbsp
  • Mint paste                         -   1 tbsp
  • Coriander leaves              -   as required
  • Oil                                       -   4 tbsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Lemon juice                      -     1 tbsp

                                          METHOD
  • Marinate the chicken with lemon juice and salt and keep in refrigerator for 30 mins.





  •  Heat some oil in a kadai.


 
  • Fry 1 sliced onions till crispy.




  • Add curry leaves and fry .




  •  Remove this to a plate and keep aside.




  •  In the same oil add the cinnamons and splutter.




  •  Add the cloves and splutter.




  •  Now add garlic paste to it.




  •  Add ginger paste to it.Saute till light brown.




  •  Add ginger paste to it.Saute till light brown.





  • Add turmeric powder to it .  






  •                         
    •  Add coriander powder to it.




    •  Add red chilly powder to it.Mix well.




    •  Add cumin powder to it.




    •  Add pepper powder to it.




    •  Add garam masala to it.Stir well.




    •  Now it's time to add the marinated chicken.




    •  Stir well till the chicken pieces change the colour to white.




    •  Add tomato puree to it And stir well to coat the puree on the chicken.






    •  Now add mint paste to it and stir well.




    • Add salt to it and mix properly.




    •  Add the thick curd to it.




    •  Stir well and add the fried onions and curry leaves.




    •  Mix well and close with a lid and cook in low flame.





    •  When the gravy thickens add some coriander leaves and mix well.






    •  Finally add the fresh cream and mix.




    • Serve it on a bowl and pour some fresh cream and garnish with coriander leaves.This can be served with Naan, Parotta, Chappatti, Idiappam, Pathiri etc.
