VEGETABLE MOMOS
Momos is a type of steamed bun with filling.Momos have a traditional delicacy in Nepal,Tibet,Bhutan,Sikkim dumplings. Momos have now spread to India too.It has become a popular street snack here too.This is made with maida flour pooris and veg fillings.This can be steamed or fried.Now a days momos are prepared with many combinations like chicken&vegetables,mushroom&vegetables,paneer&vegetables,pra-wns&vegetables etc..Recently I had posted the recipe of Chicken Momos.Today let us have a Veg Momos.It is served with sauce and hot soup.Chilly garlic sauce recipe is written down as per one of my friends request.
INGREDIENTS
For dough
- Refined flour - 1 cup
- Water - as required
- Salt - to taste
- Butter - 1 tsp
For sauting
- Cabbage chopped - 1 cup
- Carrot chopped - 1 medium
- Onions - 1/2 cup
- Green chilies - 5 chopped
- Frozen peas - 12 nos
- Capsicum - 1/2 part
- Ginger chopped - 1 tbsp
- Garlic chopped - 1.5 tbsp
- Lemon juice - 1/2 lemon
- Pepper powder - 1/4 tsp
- Coriander leaves - as required
- Oil - 2 tbsp
- Salt - to taste
- Red chilies - 10
- Garlic - 6 big cloves
- Vinegar - 1 -1.5 tbsp
- Salt to taste
- Water - 1/2 cup
- Sugar - 1/2 tsp
- Cornflour - 1 tbsp
- water - 2 tbsp
Heat a pan and add a tsp of oil and pour this blended mixture to this and cook till it is done.Mix the cornflour with 2 tbsp of water and pour this to the cooked sauce.When it starts boiling switch off the flame and serve.
METHOD
- First step, knead the maida with salt and water.Add butter to it and knead it again to make a smooth dough.Cover it with a wet cloth and leave it in room temperature for 30 mins.
- Secondly chop all the vegetables and keep aside.
- Heat some oil in a pan, add chopped garlic to it.
- Add chopped ginger to it and saute well.
- Add chopped onions to it.
- Add green chilies to it.Saute this for 1 more min.
- Add chopped carrots to it.
- Then add frozen peas too.
- Add the chopped cabbage and saute for 2 mins.
- Now add pepper powder to it.
- Add Chopped capsicum to it.
- Add lemon juice and mix well.
- Then make small balls and make small pooris.
- Fill 1 or 2 tsp of veg mixture in the centre.
- Wrap and seal the edges of the momos by making pleets and join the edges.
- Steam it on a steamer and serve with sauce.
