DAL VADA / PARIPPU VADA- A SNACK ITEM


Dal Vada or Parippu Vada is a perfect tea time snack item.It is a traditional snack item in India.Though it is prepared all over India, today I am going to prepare this snack in Kerala style.This Vada is prepared with Bengal Gram dal.There are many good combination to serve this snack.It can be served along with a yummy chutney , plantain, tea etc.People usually tempt to have this vada  during the monsoon time along with a hot black tea or coffee.It is now available everywhere like in street food, restaurants.So let us see the preparation right now....

                                                     INGREDIENTS
  • Bengal Gram dal              -  250 gms ( Soak this in water for 2-3 hrs)
  • Onion chopped                 -  1/4 cup
  • Green chillies chopped      -  4 nos
  • Ginger chopped                -  1/4 tsp
  • Curry leaves chopped       -  1 sprig
  • Turmeric powder              -  1/4 tsp
  • Red chilly flakes               - 1/2 tsp
  • Asafoetida                         -  a pinch
  • Soda powder                     -  a pinch
  •  Salt to taste
  • Oil to fry
                                                   METHOD



  •  Chop the veggies and keep it aside.


  •  Coarsely grind the soaked dal and add turmeric powder, red chilly flakes, asafoetida,salt.


  •  Then add the chopped veggies to it and mix with hands.


  • Make balls and flatten it with hands. 

  • Heat the oil in a kadai and fry till crispy.


  • Serve it along with Black Tea and Plantain..ENJOY!!!

ALOO PARATHA


Parathas are just unavoidable food item for North India people.There are different types of Parathas with different fillings available now.Among all, we all are familiar with the all time favorite Aloo Paratha.Aloo Paratha is a Punjabi recipe prepared with potato as the filling.Depending on our taste we can change the ingredients.It can be served with a curd or any spicy side dish.Now let us see the preparation..

                                                    INGREDIENTS
  • Potato boiled                                -  2
  • Garlic powder                              - 1/2 tsp
  • Chilly flakes                                - 1/4 tsp
  • Coriander leaves finely chopped - little
  • Salt to taste
  • Wheat flour  
  • Water
  • Salt
                                                       METHOD




  • Knead the wheat flour, salt and water and prepare a soft dough.Keep this aside for 30 mins.


  • Mash the boiled potatoes and add the garlic powder, red chilly flakes ,salt and coriander leaves. Mix this well.


  • Make balls and keep this aside.


  • Take a big lemon size knead dough and roll it.Press it and flatten it.In the centre keep this potato balls and cover this like a ball.


  • Roll this with a roller slight thickly.


  • Heat a non stick tawa and add 1 tsp of ghee to it and cook  both sides.


  • Apply ghee on both sides.Serve it hot.
