KAPPA KUZHACHATHU(MASHED TAPIOCA)

                                                     KAPPA KUZHACHATHU


Tapioca or Kappa is a traditional food which has been cooked  since ages in all homes.Kappa kuzhachathu was the main food cooked in normal homes earlier since this was cultivated or found in all the fields.. Now a days this has been modified to a costly dish available in  restaurants.A wide variety of recipes are now prepared using Tapioca and is served along with Chicken,Meat or Fish gravy.This is now a special course food item also for some wedding party' too.Malabar tapioca is the best ever tasted one among all.Due to high demand now Tapiocas are exported  to other countries also.

                                                             INGREDIENTS

  • Tapioca                                       -   500 gms
  • Coconut grated                           -   1.5 cups
  • Onion or shallots                        -   1/2 part or 6
  • Turmeric powder                        -   1/2 tsp
  • Cumin seed                                 -   1/2 tsp
  • Green chilies                               -   6
To Garnish
  • Oil 
  • Mustard seeds
  •  Curry leaves 
  • Red chilies
                                                            METHOD

  •   Cut the tapioca and add salt.Cook in pressure cooker with more water .
  • Grind coarsely the coconut and other ingredients together.      



  • When the tapioca is cooked remove all the water by straining it.


  • After straining add the grinded coconut and cook  for 3-5 mins.


  • Mash it and Mix well.


  • Heat a pan and add some coconut oil to it.


  • Add mustard seeds to it.

  • Add the cut red chilies ,curry leaves to it  and switch off the flame.



Garnish it on the top of cooked tapioca and serve hot!!
