PAALAPPAM


                                                       PAALAPPAM



Palappam is one of the most traditional breakfasts in Kerala.We all know that there are many fans for our Kerala Appams all over India .In all functions and celebrations palappam is an unavoidable item in all christian families.Duck mappas, chicken stew , mutton stew, beef stew are the main combination for this appam.
                            

                                INGREDIENTS


  • Raw rice                -        2 cup
  • Dry Yeast              -        1/2 tsp
  • Sugar                     -        4 tbsp
  • Salt                        -        a pinch
  • Jeera/cummin        -       1/4 tsp
  • Water                    -        as required

                                     METHOD



  • Soak the rice for 4-6 hrs. Grind it to a fine paste.Take out 3/4 cup of batter from this and keep aside.






  •  Add yeast and sugar to it and grind once more.


  •  Take a pan, add the 3/4 cup batter(taken separately earlier) ,1 1/2 cup water, a little salt to it and stir well.Heat the pan and stir continuously .


  •  When the batter gets thickened as shown in the picture, remove it  from flame and allow it to cool.

 



                                       
  •  Once the boiled batter gets cooled add this to the ginded batter along with cummin.Mix well or blend for 2 mins.Keep this batter over night .The batter will become double the quantity in the morning.Now Appam batter is ready to prepare soft and tasty Appams.

Serve this Appam along with stew .....and ENJOY!!!!
