SQUID ROAST-NAADAN


      SQUID ROAST(KOONTHAL ROAST)


Squid is from the marine family. It contains high protein and is a non-fatty fish.It’s a good food source for zinc and manganese, and high in copper, selenium, vitamin B12 and riboflavin.
Squid(Koonthal/Kanava)roast is a Kerala style dry-thick gravy form.This is easy to prepare and not only yummy but healthy too.The body can be stuffed whole,cut into pieces or sliced into rings.The arms,tentacles,and ink are also edible;in fact, the only parts not eatable are the beak and gladius.

                                      INGREDIENTS
·       Squid/Koonthal                       - 500gms
·       Onions chopped                      - 3 medium
·       Ginger & Garlic crushed        -  2 tb.sp
·       Tomato chopped                     -  2 medium
·       Red chilly powder                  - 2 tb.sp
·       Coriander powder                   -  1 Tbsp
·       Turmeric powder                    - ¼ tsp
·       Pepper powder                        - ½ tsp
·       Fennel powder                        - ¼ tsp
·       Garam masala powder            -  1/2tsp
·       Salt to taste
·       Cambogia                                - 2 piece( soak in water)
·       Curry leaves     
·       Coconut oil                             -  2to3 tbsp
                                            METHOD






  • Clean the squid and cut into pieces.















    •      Add red chilly powder, coriander powder,turmeric powder,pepper powder,fennel powder,garam masala,salt,2 pieces of soaked cambogia and mix together very well.






      • Now add the chopped onions and crushed ginger garlic paste to it.


          • Mix everything together and cook this in a kadai in very low flame till it is done.

               

          •   When the water dries and masala coats well,switch the flame to high.




          •  Now add coconut oil and roast well.When oil leaves out from the sides switch off the flame.

           

          • Add add curry leaves to it and close it with a lid for some time.


          • Finally our Kerala style Squid Roast is ready to serve .
