INGREDIENTS
- Pearl spot fish - 8 nos
- Pepper corns - 2 tbsp
- Red chilly powder - 1 tbsp
- Ginger - a small piece
- Garlic - 8 cloves
- Shallots - 8 nos
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
- Fennel seeds - 1/2 tsp
- Salt to taste
- Vinegar - 1/2 tsp
- Curry leaves - 1 sprig
- Coconut oil - 2 tbsp
METHOD
- Grind all the ingredients together to a fine paste.
- Clean the fish, pat dry and make oblique incisions over it.
- Apply the masala over the pat dried fish and marinate for 30 mins.
- Gently wilt the freshly plucked banana leaf by keeping on the flame.
- Heat the heavy bottom pan and lay this leaf on the bottom.
- Place all the marinated fish one by one.
- Cover this with a lid having holes.When the masala dries and the fish is cooked add the coconut oil and keep on low flame for 2-3 mins more and serve hot..
