OYSTERS!!!Have anyone tasted this meat..?This dish is very famous towards Malabar and almost all people have tasted this for sure. This meat is seen in sea rock and mainly seen between Kozhikode and Kannur regions.People who stay far from Malabar region would not have seen ,prepared or tasted this dish.Today I got a chance to taste this meat.To be frank I saw oyster for the first time today in my life.But today I am not the one who is preparing today's Oyster recipe.I am introducing a new cook Mrs.Chandramathi Krishnan , my own dear Aunt.By Profession she is a teacher but at the same time she is an amazing cook too.Today she is going to share this recipe for us.I am sure you all will love this recipe because I just loved this recipe made by her.
Oysters are delicious and can be cooked in various ways.It's a Shell meat and is very soft and yummy.Here she has cooked this meat in a pan, evaporated the water and set it aside.After that she roasted in pepper masala. Even though this looks like a simple recipe, it tastes superb..Actually there is nothing to remove from this meat.We just need to clean the mud from the meat and wash it 2-3 times in water.Now let us move to the preparation.
INGREDIENTS
- Fresh cleaned Oysters - 30 nos
- Onions sliced - 1 big
- Ginger - 3/4" piece crushed
- Garlic - 8-10 cloves crushed
- Green chilies - 3-4 slited
- Pepper powder - 1/2+1/2 tsp
- Pepper crushed - 3/4 tsp
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
- Tomato - 2 cut into pieces
- Salt - to taste
- Curry leaves - 2 sprigs
- Coconut oil - 2 tbsp
- Ghee - 1 tsp
METHOD
- Clean the Oyster meat.
- In a pan, add the oyster meat along with 1/2 tsp of pepper powder and salt.Then cook it.Once it starts boiling water starts to come out.
- Allow the water to dry.Keep this aside.
- Heat another pan, add coconut oil to it.Saute the crushed ginger and garlic till light brown.Then add the green chilies.
- Now add the sliced onions to it and saute in medium flame.
- When it becomes translucent, add the tomato pieces to it.
- Saute this for some time.Cover it and cook for 3-4 mins.
- Cook till the tomatoes get cooked.
- Now add the cooked oysters and make it pat dry
- When the masalas coat over the meat, add crushed fresh pepper, curry leaves and 1 tsp ghee to it. Saute this for 2 mins more and turn off the flame .Serve it hot.
Here is my Aunt's special Oyster Pepper Masala..
