MUTTON PERALAN


Mutton as we all know is the meat of domestic sheep.There are many Indian Mutton recipes Mutton Peralan is yet another popular recipes of Kerala.This dish will be one of the favorites for people who like spicy foods.This yummy spicy gravy dish can be served along with hot rice,roti,naan etc..To prepare this recipe first of all marinate the mutton with masalas and cook this in a pressure cooker for 15 mins.After that saute this with onion , ginger, garlic.Now we can see the preparation.

                                                         INGREDIENTS
To marinate the Mutton
  • Mutton                               -  500 gms
  • Turmeric powder               -  1/2 tsp
  • Red chilly powder             -  1 tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper powder                  -   1/2 tsp
  • Garam masala Powder      -   1/4 tsp
  • Ginger paste                      -   1/2 tsp
  • Garlic enhancer                 -   1/4 tsp
Mix this well and keep this aside for 30 mins.
  • Onion                                -   1 big sliced
  • Green chilies                     -   1 or 2
  • Ginger paste                      -  1/2 tsp
  • Garlic crushed                  -   1 tsp
  • Curry leaves                     -   2 sprigs
  • Tomato                             -   2 cut into pieces
  • Coriander powder            -   1 tsp
  • Red chilly powder             
  • Pepper powder             
  • Garam masala powder    -    2 pinch
  • Water                              -    1/4 cup
  • Coconut milk                 -     3/4 cup
  • Oil                       
                                                      METHOD








  • Marinate the Mutton and keep it aside.


  • After 30 mins add 1/4 cup of water and cook this in a pressure cooker for 15 mins.


  • Wait till the pressure comes down.


  • Heat a kadai and pour little oil .



  • Add the crushed garlic and saute for few seconds.


  • Add the ginger paste and saute well.



  • Add curry leaves and sliced onions to it.



  • Add green chilies and saute till the onions become light brown.


  • Now add the dry masalas one by one.First add coriander powder and red chilly powder to it.


  • Then add pepper powder to it.


  • Saute well and add the chopped tomatoes to it. Let it mix properly with the masala.Then add the cooked mutton to it.


  • Saute this for some time.


  • Add the coconut milk and masala powder to it.


  • Let the masala becomes thick, turn off the flame.



  • Finally garnish with chopped coriander leaves and a pinch of pepper powder.
