CHICKEN POLLICHATHU


Fish Pollichathu is one of the popular delicacies of Kerala.I thought of trying the same recipe with Chicken and the final recipe was much appreciated by my family.So I decided to share this recipe to all the Foodies.All the masalas used here have given the dish a very good aroma and flavor.Today's Chicken Pollichathu is a very yummy recipe and it can be served along with Rice, Chapati,Parota, Naan , Idiappam, pPaalappam, Puttu etc...Let us see the preparation now.

                                                  INGREDIENTS

  • Chicken                           - 1 kg pieces(Marinate the chicken with 2 tsp of red chilly powder, 1/2                                             tsp turmeric powder, salt and a pinch of garam masala)
  • Ginger crushed               -  1.5 tbsp
  • Garlic crushed                -  1.5 tbsp
  • Shallot                            -  1.5 cup
  • Green chilies                  -  7 chopped
  • Tomato chopped            -  3 
  • Red chilly powder          -  2 tsp
  • Turmeric powder           -  1/4 tsp
  • Pepper powder               -  1/2 tsp
  • Coconut milk                 -  2 cups
  • Oil                                  - 3 tbsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Curry leaves
  • Coriander leaves chopped
                                                    METHOD



  •  Clean and cut the chicken pieces.


  •  Marinate the chicken with the above listed ingredients and keep it aside for 20 mins.


  •  Heat a heavy bottom pan and add some oil.Saute crushed ginger and garlic together.


  •  Add the shallots cut into it.



  •  Add green chilies to it.Saute this well


  •  Add red chilly powder, turmeric powder,pepper powder and saute well. Then add the marinated chicken pieces to it.

  • Saute the chicken till the color changes to white.Then add the tomato pieces and saute well.


  •  Let the tomato gets mixed well with the gravy.


  •  Then add salt and coconut milk to it.


  •  When it starts to boil add the curry leaves to it.Let it cook for 30 mins in a very low flame.


  •  When it is cooked well, turn off the flame and add the chopped coriander leaves to it.
