RICE FLAKES VILAYICHATHU/AVAL VILAYICHATHU




Rice flakes/Poha or Avil Vilayichathu is a tea time snack.Rice Flakes are of two types.Brown rice Flake and White rice flake.Now a days thick and thin type is also available in market.I used here Brown rice flake but can use as per your choice.This can be stored in a tight container for 2-3 weeks.The real combination of eating rice flakes vilayichathu is with ripen plantain.I m sure all will love this sweet version of Rice Flake ..Let us see the preparation right..?

                                                  INGREDIENTS
  • Rice flakes/Poha                  - 250 gms
  • Grated coconut                    - 1.5 cup
  • Jaggery                                - 250 gms
  • Ghee                                    - 2-3 tbsp
  • Cardamom powder             - 1/2 tsp
  • Green gram dal                   - 2 tbsp
  • Water                                 -  1/2 cup
                                                 METHOD



  • Heat a heavy bottom pan .Add  water and jaggery( crush it and add to the water).


  •  Allow it to dissolve. When it is in a double string form add the grated coconut  and cook for some time. Then it becomes little loose by adding coconut .


  •  If it becomes a single string form add the rice flakes to it and mix well.


  •  It will look like in the above picture.


  •  Heat a small pan add ghee and green gram dal to it.


  •  If it becomes light brown pour this to the cooked rice flakes.


  •  Mix it well.

  • Now it's ready to eat.
