"Rasam"
One of my friends Mrs Vijayam called me yesterday... She knows very well that I m very much fond of cooking.. So when ever she gets a good recipe she will share it with me.Todays recipe of Rasam is one of them which I got from her..
I made it on the same day which got the recipe.. Because this Rasam is very easy to prepare.The smell and taste were just superb while making this recipe. So am sharing this recipe of my friend to you all..
We have always heard from people to have Rasam when we are sick like fever,throat pain,indigestion.. This is beacause of the ingredients which we use in this..Due to the spices which we use, Rasam gives a relief to throat pains and other problems..The spices which I am using in this Rasam are all good for our healthy digestion as well..Mixing of maslas with our own finger tips give a marvelous taste to it..Its a good appetizer too...I would suggest all to try this Special Rasam..
INGREDIENTS
- Shallots - 10 nos crushed
- Garlic - 10 cloves,cleaned and crushed
- Tomato - 2 chopped
- Corriander powder - 1 heaped Tsp
- Black pepper powder - 1 Tsp
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 Tsp
- Crushed dry red chillies -1/2 Tsp
- Cummin powder - 1/2 Tsp
- Asafoetida - As required
- Corriander leaves - as required
- Curry leaves - 1 sprig
- Tamarind - a lemon size
- water - 750 ml
- Salt
- Oil
{Crushed red chillies and pepper powder can be used according to your taste manners.}
- Crush shallots,garlic curry leaves, and stem of corriander leaves and keep aside.
- Chop the tomatoes ,and keep it ready along with the masalas powders and crushed masalas .
- To Garnish
- Mustard seeds,Red chillies,Curry leaves, and corriander leaves.
METHOD
- Soak the tamarind in 750 ml water .and make a tamarind syrup by mixing with the finger tips.
- Take a medium bowl and and 2 tb coconut oil and add pepper powder, crushed dry red chillies, corriander powder, turmeric powder, cummin powder,mix well. Now add crushed masalas (shallots, garlic,, curry leaves and little corriander stems),tomatoes chopped and salt to it. Mix it well using ur finger tips(njeraduka).You can feel the aroma smell of masalas....
- Take a pot add the masalas to it and tamarind juice and combine well.
- Heat a tawa and add little oil splutter some mustard seeds, fenugreek seeds, and fry the red chillies and curry leaves .Keep it aside.
- .Now add the asafoetida and make to boil.When it starts to boil from sides, put off the flame .
- Garnish with corriander leaves and the keep asided fried item to it
- Here is the Final stage of rasam....
