MAALAADU/ROASTED GRAM LADDU / MAA LADOO


The festival of lights ,Diwali has come again.This festival is not only known for the lights but also for the sweets,dry fruits etc.So how about preparing a sweet dish today on the occasion of Diwali??Maalaadu or Maa Ladoo is a special occasion or a Diwali special sweet.This is made with Fried Gram ,Sugar powder and Ghee.This easy sweet recipe was shared by one of my close friends.The main thing to be noted is the accurate proportion.So friends take the correct measurements which I have mentioned in the recipe.So let us  see the preparation now...

                                                      INGREDIENTS
  • Roasted Bengal Gram                   - 1 Glass
  • Sugar                                             -  1+1/2 glass
  • Ghee                                              -  1 Cup (Heat around 1 glass of ghee.Do not add the full amount of ghee at a time.Add first 1-2 tbsp then mix that with our hands,if needed add little by little.The powder should not be oily.It should be dry as shown in picture below)
  • Cardamom                                    -  5-6
  • Cashews                                        -  2 tbsp  (not compulsory)
                                                       METHOD



  •  In a mixer bowl add the cardamom and sugar.Make a fine powder.


  •  Sieve this through a strainer .


  •  Roast the fried gram in a pan and powder that too to a fine texture.


  •  Heat the ghee in a kadai.


  •  Now mix together the roasted gram powder and sugar powder.



  •  Mix it well.

  • Remove it to  a plate.


  • First take 1/2 cup of powder in a bowl then add 1 or 2 tbsp of boiled ghee to this .Mix it well with hands.The powder should be fine after adding the ghee as shown in the pictures. Take note that the mixture should not be oily.


                  
  •  Make small balls and keep it aside for 30 mins.While making balls keep one piece of cashew inside and make the balls.After 30 mins remove it to a bowl and serve.Store this in an air tight container.
